Millions of Japanese viewers of the world’s longest-running animated cartoon TV show will have to make do with reruns from next week after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted production. Aired every Sunday since 1969,“Sazae-san” show featuring the everyday ups and downs of suburban Japanese housewife Sazae and her extended family, is a household name for many generations.

Since the beginning of March, a "group where we all pretend to be ants in an ant colony" has grown from 100,000 members to more than 1.7 million, according to its creator, Tyrese Childs and the number of people vying to join keeps rising. The concept: Members of the ant group post photos and videos about being ants. They live to serve their fictional queen and find her food, such as crumbles, candy and ice cream. More than 18,000 Facebook users responded to a post of ants on ice cream, writing comments like, "LIFT," "MUNCH", "LINK", "NOM," "SLURP" and "LIFT.TO.THE.QUEEN.
